Employers

We partner with employers in Hertfordshire to help local residents who are facing barriers, access employment, education and training opportunities.

Through these partnerships, employers provide taster sessions to residents taking part in our employment support projects. The goal is to help participants secure paid employment and make the transition into the workplace as seamless as possible.

Commit to making inclusion your business!

Stevenage Football Club

Stevenage Football Club

Working with Step2Skills has been and continues to be a wonderful experience. The Step2Skills staff are very warm and welcoming, and they have provided excellent young people that are blossoming into fine rounded human beings whilst working with us on various projects across Stevenage Football Club and Foundation.

Ringway

Ringway

Through our involvement with Step2Skills we have been given a wonderful opportunity to access a valuable group of people which had been previously closed off to us. By attending the Supported Employment Job Fairs we have been able to show people the opportunities a company like Ringway offers, and by developing relationships with Step2Skills we have been able to offer work experience to one of their clients. During the whole process we have been really well supported by the Step2Skills Advisors.

McMullen Brewing and Pubs

McMullen & Sons Ltd.

Since we have been working with Step2Skills we have recruited quite a few team members to our pubs. They have mostly been successful and stayed with us long term.

In March we held a coffee morning for mentors and their clients to join us at our Head Office in Hertford for us to give a presentation about McMullens, what to expect from us as an employer and the benefits of working for us, including our great training opporunities open to everyone.

We spent some time in our training kitchen observing a Kitchen Confidence course that was taking place for newly appointed kitchen staff. This was to demonstrate what we can offer on a practical training level away from the pub.

Following on from that we attended a Jobs Fair at North Herts College which also gave us an opportunity to showcase ourselves as a great employer and give advice and information to prospective candidates. It was also a good networking event for us to meet up with other organisations that are supporting people to get into work.

The mentors we work with are attentive and understanding, they work with the GM’s in the pubs to facilitate and support interviews and trial sessions to ensure the candidate feels comfortable and knows the expectations of the role. The mentors have an insightful knowledge of our business and can talk to candidates about our culture, benefits, and training opportunities.

We are proud to support the work of Step2skills in the workplace.

Wirebox

Wirebox

Wirebox have been successfully working with Step2Skills for over 5 years. As part of Hertfordshire County Council, Step2Skills provide adult education and employment support services to Hertfordshire businesses, and residents to support them to achieve their education and work goals.

The work they do is amazing! When we first worked with them, we were unsure if we were right for each other.

As a high-tech company, working on the cutting edge and providing high quality websites and work for our customers, we must be selective of anyone we take on. The work we do is enjoyable to us but can be demanding to anyone new to the team. We support many businesses in the UK and worldwide. The candidates that Step2Skills recommended were just what we needed, they had good IT skills and a passion for IT and willing to work hard and learn, to continually develop their skills. With reasonable adjustments and a little more support, they flourished and became valued members of our team.

Step2Skills have been very good at supporting both us and the candidates through the induction process. We like to be an inclusive employer and to continuously invest in our staff and develop their skills. Step2Skills have helped us to do this. A highly recommended organisation.
