The Education, Health and Care (EHC) Portal lets you track the progress of your EHC needs assessment application.

How do I access the portal?

Families who have submitted an application for an EHC needs assessment are invited (via email) to create an account on the portal.

If you are invited to access the portal, you will be given the login information via email from your Children's Information and Advice Officer (CIAO).

What can you do on the Portal?

  • Find out who your Children's Information and Advice Officer (CIAO) or your EHC Coordinator is
  • Submit documents that support your assessment to Hertfordshire County Council
  • Staff from the council can submit documents, and you can view documents that you have been sent
  • You will get email updates from the portal every 2 weeks on the progress of your needs assessment (during the 20 week timeframe). You will also get an email when there is a change, for example if a new advice has been submitted. For updates outside of the 20 week timeframe, contact the Front Door and Assessments Team at ehcneedsassessment@hertfordshire.gov.uk or 01442 453300.

What the portal doesn't do

  • You can't contact your EHC Coordinator or other professionals at the council through the portal. You will need to use their usual routes for contact.
  • Professionals in health or education cannot access the portal or submit documents through it. They will submit their advices through other routes to the Assessment Team.
