In Hertfordshire's Children's Services, we measure the impact of the work we are doing using something we call the "Outcome Bees"

This helps us ensure that the work we are doing has a real world impact on the children, young people and their families in Hertfordshire.

These are the statistics we review as part of our SEND Strategy 2026 - 31:

Be Happy

  • ⬆️the percentage of children with SEND completing the health & wellbeing survey who said they feel happy
  • ⬆️the percentage of children with SEND completing the health & wellbeing survey who say they often feel hopeful for the future
  • ⬆️ parent carer satisfaction measured through our complaints, compliments and service surveys.

Be Ambitious

  • ⬆️ the percentage of children at or above the expected level at their 2 - 2.5 years health check
  • ⬆️ the proportion of children achieving a good level of development at the end of reception
  • ⬆️ attainment and progress for all children and young people at Key Stage 2, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5
  • ⬆️ attendance rates at school for all children and young people
  • ⬇️ the number of children accessing interim provision outside of school for long periods of time
  • ⬆️ the timeliness of children and young people’s Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments and Annual Reviews

Be Healthy

Be Independent

Be Safe

  • Monitor the rates of children and young people known to social care, including those with SEND

  • Monitor the numbers of children and young people, with and without SEND, known to Safer in Schools Board with safeguarding and education risk factors

Be Included

  • ⬆️ the percentage of children and young people with SEND completing the health & wellbeing survey who say their views and opinions are listened to in school/college
  • ⬇️ the numbers of children missing education and on average how long they miss education for

Be Resilient
