The new Family Support Service Early Years SEND Champions are here, 21 in total across Hertfordshire! They are working in partnership with Health Visiting SEND Champions, to provide joined up support across the county.

The aim of the EY SEND Champions is to support families who have children with SEND by providing information advice, guidance and a listening ear. They are linking up with specialist services and partners to enable signposting to the appropriate support needed.

SEND Champions have an understanding of the challenge families can face when trying to navigate information and finding the right support for their child, but they are able to signpost to local support groups and help with accessing the Hertfordshire Local Offer….. help is on hand to assist parents in accessing the right pathway for their child!

The Champion’s role also involves cascading up to date information regarding SEND to colleagues within the Family Support Service, providing support and advice to those working with families with children with SEND.

The role has been established to ensure the best care and outcomes for Hertfordshire children and to ensure that the families are linked in to Family Centre services.

One SEND Champion remarked “It is very exciting and I’m delighted to be involved. There is so much information out there it can sometimes be very confusing for families, I’m really looking forward to being able to use all I have learnt to help!”
