Guest blog: EBE Social Media Takeover

Published  9th April 2021

In this blog post, our Experts by Experience, Chloe and Georgia, tell us how they helped raise awareness of the new Preparing for Adulthood (PFA) pages of the Local Offer website by taking over our social communication channels for a week in the EBE Social Media Takeover...

"The EBE Media Takeover was a week where Chloe and I, as EBEs, took over the Local Offer Facebook and Twitter pages to boost awareness of the local offer website.

I used Hootsuite to pre-schedule all the posts, videos and images. I also made a lot of images via Canva, showing what subjects we were talking about that day. I also made a couple of images for quotes - there was a boxing one, an education one and an interview one.

Previous work we've been involved with as EBEs ( I'd written an accommodation guide and Chloe had written up her story of getting on a train with anxiety issues, and together we had created a how to make friends guide with top ten tips) - helped us create some of the messages we used during the takeover. We included the travel budget and the activities tool we had worked on too.

What we found out...

During the week we reached 10x more people than usual and got more likes, followers and comments than the months before. Chloe’s train story, our friends 'top tips' and our loneliness work  - which were all more personal stories - were particularly popular. Our intro videos went well and the mental health got the most views/ likes.

The subjects with video attachments were the most successful as kids and teens alike prefer visual, least-effort-involved ways to view things."
