Many people are eligible for a free flu vaccination this year, either because they are in an eligible NHS group or because their employer is paying for it.

All staff at Hertfordshire County Council are eligible for a free flu jab through the HCC flu vaccination service and some partner organisations are also signed up to this scheme.

Flu can be very serious, especially if you get COVID-19 at the same time. You may have to take time off work and can find it difficult to look after loved ones.

Even if you don’t feel at risk yourself, you could unknowingly pass the virus on to someone who is at risk.

Please get your flu vaccination as soon as possible, especially if you are in a frontline role, to boost your immunity and protect those you are in contact with.

How to get your free flu vaccination

If you are eligible for a free NHS flu jab, you should book with your GP surgery or any pharmacy providing a flu jab service. If you work in a care setting, you may be offered a vaccine at your place of work.

If you are a HCC employee but not eligible for a free NHS jab, you can claim a free jab in one of three ways:

 

If you are an employee or volunteer of a partner organisation signed up to the service, you can book an appointment at a participating pharmacy. You’ll need your authorisation letter from your employer to get it free.
