Chief Executive

The Chief Executive manages the day-to-day operation of the council on behalf of elected politicians. The Chief Executive is supported by a team of chief officers each of whom leads a service department.  The current chief officer team is shown in the document below. The current Chief Executive is John Wood who has been the Chief Executive and Director of Environment at Hertfordshire County Council since 1 June 2012. John joined Hertfordshire County Council in 1991, first as Principal Transport Engineer, then Assistant Director, before becoming Director of Environment in 2003.  He took on wider responsibilities, including Deputy Chief Executive in 2009.
