Whatever your health and fitness levels, there's something for you.

  • Walk to the local corner shop or hop off the bus one stop earlier.
  • Take the grandchildren to the park or local pool.

Buddy up with a friend for company and to keep each other motivated.

  • Make that coffee date a takeaway and short walk instead of drinking in.
  • Go for a walk or bike ride with friends.

A little goes a long way - anything that gets you moving and raises your heart rate helps.

  • Try some chair exercises or a few squats while watching TV or waiting for the kettle to boil.
  • Gardening is a great way to keep fit.
  • If time is short, try building 10 minute chunks of activity into your day.  It all adds up.

There are many free and low-cost activities available in your local area. They're fun and you’ll make new friends!

  • Explore your local health walk - they're free, fun, sociable and suitable for all levels.
  • Join a leisure or dance class.
  • How about volunteering for a local conservation group?
  • Register with Never Too Late for free taster activities - they're a great way to try before you buy.

Aim to gradually build up to 2 ½ hours of activity a week. Any activity that lasts for 10 minutes or more counts. This might take time to reach, but our planner can help you to build up your activity in a manageable way.

Having a regular routine can help, so being active becomes part of your day-to-day life.
