How to reduce your risk of falling

Services that can help

• Get equipment and care including alarms to alert someone if you need help, healthy meals delivered to you at home and equipment or adaptations to help you stay mobile.

• Try the online home fire safety check and you’ll get a safe and well visit at home if you need one.

• Health walks - try an easy walk and make new friends. If you're unsteady, check with your GP first.

• Community Transport can help you get out and about.

• The Hertfordshire Directory has local listings for exercises classes, home eye tests and de-cluttering services. Exercise helps you to stay steady and reduces the chance of having a fall. There are exercise classes for all ages and abilities to choose from. 

• HertsHelp can link you to local services and advice - call them on 0300 123 4044.

• Ask us for a free assessment for advice on changes to make your day to day life safer.

• Take a look at Age UK's self-help advice.
• Speak to a health professional, like your GP, practice nurse or pharmacist.

Slipper Swaps

Prevent slips and trips by picking up free slippers and get lots of advice about staying safe and well in your home.

Slipper Swap events take place in different libraries every autumn.

• find out about local social groups and clubs you might enjoy
• get advice from occupational therapists and our other event partners
• book a Home Fire Safety visit with the Fire Service
• get cost of living information and advice.
