Applying for a maintained nursery class/school for 2017/18 - for children born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014

Information about applying for a maintained nursery class or nursery school will be available on the website by December 2016.

When will my child start at nursery?
The county council has a two intake policy for nursery admissions.

  • September 2017 intake for children born between 1 September 2013 and 28 February 2014.
  • January 2018 intake for children born between 1 March 2014 and 31 August 2015.

However, some schools operate a different intake system. Please speak to the school direct to confirm their intake policy.

How will places be offered?
All schools will allocate places in accordance with their published admission arrangements; please speak to the school direct.

What hours will my child be offered?
Hertfordshire County Council has a duty to provide access to 15 hours a week of free early years provision for all three and four year olds. Full time provision would normally be three hours per session five days a week; part time would normally be fewer days per week.
