Urban Arts Festival: Why this year will be the biggest it has ever been

Hi there, thanks for clicking on this blog about Urban Arts Festival! My name is Marcus, and I’m a Supported Intern, doing work placement with the Local Offer crew at Hertfordshire County Council on Wednesdays and Thursdays, as well as managing and co-ordinating for the Urban Arts Festival on Fridays.

I am a student at North Hertfordshire College (NHC) on a Supported Internship course, which has enabled me to gain work experience in an office full of wonderful (and kind) people, as well as boosting and strengthening my confidence in preparation for adulthood, such as Job Interviews.

What is the Urban Arts Festival?

The Urban Arts Festival (commonly abbreviated to UAF) is an annual celebration, located at the heart of Stevenage every first Saturday of May each year – that lets small, independent artists and business owners to grow and share their creations in Hertfordshire and across all backgrounds.

What’s going on at the festival?

There will be a lot of rad stuff, including art workshops, live music, skateboarding and dancers. The skateboarding activity is composed of ramps, skateboards, and of course, YOU!

There will be food stalls, accessories, merchandise and other bits and bobs there as well.

Why should I come along?

Whether you’re just snooping around and taking a peep, or sticking around or celebrating the art of young, independent artists, Urban Arts Festival brings a lot of activities, food (My favourite part), Small bands and artists and a variety of independent businesses and to show what they've got to offer.

But hold on, Where and when IS the UAF taking place?

Glad you asked! The Urban Arts Festival is taking place on:

Saturday, 2nd May 2026
11am – 7pm
at Event Island, Stevenage.

The festival sits at Event Island, located in the core of Stevenage, just outside Rooster Point. It is just a 5 minute walk from the Station, and a 2 ½ Minute walk from the Bus Interchange, making it accessible for people who have a disability!
