Think about who can support you as you go through the process, like your worker, friends or family.

If you still have an open case with us

You can get help from our trained Safe Space counsellors:

  • a session with a counsellor before you request your files, to focus on your worries and concerns.
  • a number of sessions throughout the process of reading your files to talk about your feelings.

If you’d like to know more, ask your worker for a referral.

If you don't have an open case with us

Online support, advice and counselling for young people in Hertfordshire onany issues that are affecting them.

National online support and advice for adults to discuss any issues that are affecting them.

National website for group chats, discussion boards and more for young people to talk about issues that are affecting them.

 

Other things to consider:

  • Are you ready?
  • Is this the right time for you?
  • Will you find out things you didn't know?
  • There might be several boxes of files. Do you have somewhere safe to keep them?

How to apply

Complete a form and post it to us:

What happens next


1. We'll ask you for 2 forms of ID
.

  • One that says who you are (e.g. your passport or driving licence)
  • One that says where you live (e.g. a bank letter or bill)

If you don't have these, let us know.

2. We'll search for your information.

It might be held in different places and we might need to remove any personal data about other people.

3. We'll get in touch with you.

Your allocated worker will keep you updated. They might need to ask you some questions.

4. We'll send it to you within 40 days of your request.

We'll ask you how you'd like to get the information.
