Our Children in Care Council (CHICC) welcomes children and young people with experience of being in care. We have several groups:
- CHICC Junior group – young people aged 10–12 years
- CHICC Deputies group – young people aged 13–15 years
- CHICC Care Leavers group – care leavers aged 16–25 years
The groups come together monthly to share their views and experiences with their journey in care and beyond. The aim is to help us shape our service so we continue to meet young people's needs and be the best corporate parents we can. Our groups take a ‘you said we did’ approach, sharing what's happened as a result of the group's feedback.

We also have groups for young people aged 13 and over who have, or have had, a social worker or lead professional. They can also influence and impact change so we want to hear their experiences – what worked well and what we can do better?
