Home Library Service

Bringing your local library to your door.

If you're unable to visit your library, our Home Library Service can help you continue enjoying books, audiobooks and other library materials from the comfort of your home.

We may be able to help if you:

  • have a physical disability that prevents you from travelling to a library
  • have a learning disability or mental health condition that makes it difficult for you to leave home alone
  • are registered blind (severely sight impaired)
  • are frail or in poor health and unable to visit a library
  • are a carer for someone affected by any of the above, and your caring responsibilities prevent you from getting to the library.

How it works

Once your application has been approved:

  • we'll discuss your reading interests and preferences
  • a volunteer will select books and other items to suit your tastes
  • the volunteer will deliver items directly to your home
  • finished items will be collected and returned to the library
  • regular visits will be arranged at a time that suits you.
