Parents, schools and professionals receive letters throughout various points in the Education, Health and Care assessment process. Beth tells us how our content team are working on a project to rewrite these letters, to make things more transparent during this often-stressful time.
"We know that sometimes letters about the EHC assessment process can be incredibly long and difficult to understand. Especially at a time when things are complex enough.
Our aim is to unravel the complex legal process and ensure the letters are simpler and easier for everyone to understand.
Getting it right
To make sure we get this right, we’re involving parents throughout the project. This will include online tasks with the SEND online feedback group, and face to face sessions with Herts Parent Carer Involvement (HPCI) and Carers in Herts.
We’ll be sharing our letters to gain valuable feedback and get an insight into how certain letters make parents feel.
Parents have so often told us the process has left them feeling lost or left to fend for themselves, and so we want the letters to provide that extra reassurance and support when it’s really needed.
