Temporary traffic regulation orders – make temporary changes to your road You can apply to make a temporary change to your road. This could be for emergency works or for an event. We're unable to provide any updates during this time. For more information, read our guidance notes (PDF 197kb). Confirm Continue Close Information: Before you start... You'll need the following documents: a completed application form for single road (DOC, 118kb) or multiple roads (DOC, 148kb) a plan of the diversion route. You must make coordination checks to ensure your closure and diversion won't affect other works. If you need to close a right of way, please apply to make a temporary change to a right of way instead. You can't start any works until you have a valid traffic regulation order and permit. Please note, unless stated on your application, road closures to restrict movement will only apply to vehicles. Pedestrian and cycle access must be maintained. Types of temporary regulation orders Information: We're unable to provide updates on applications-in-progress, but we'll get in contact if a site visit is needed. Standard traffic regulation order These are for planned works on a road. Cost: £1,970 Application processing time: 8 weeks minimum Valid for 18 months, if they affect right of way they only last for 6 months. Traffic regulation notice (emergency) You can't apply for these in advance. Cost: £850 Application processing time: 4 weeks minimum Valid for 21 days.
