Staff stories

Man riding a bike

Dave

Dave used to drive to County Hall but, after relocating to Farnham House, he decided to try cycling to work and hasn’t looked back.

Commuting from Old Stevenage, he takes full advantage of the excellent off-road cycle routes. Dave has saved both time and money, as he can now leave his car at home.

Man wearing a high vis jacket and riding a bike

Oliver

In June 2024, Oliver decided to switch from travelling by car to cycling. His journey takes about 15 minutes because he now avoids all the Stevenage congestion and gets some exercise every trip.

Woman riding a bike

Tracey

Tracey meets a colleague at either Fairlands Valley Park or Gravely. They cycle together to Farnham House. It takes 20-30 minutes.

Tracey, an avid cyclist, has recently invested in a new gravel bike through the Cycle to Work scheme (HCC intranet).
