Legal matters
A lasting power of attorney or 'LPA' is a legal document that allows you to make decisions on behalf of the person you care for, if they're no longer able to look after their finances and personal matters.
Age UK Hertfordshire can help you fill in lasting power of attorney forms.
Watch the November 2025 Carers in Hertfordshire Legal Workshop webinar to learn how to apply for Deputyship. You can become someone’s deputy if they cannot make decisions for themselves (lack mental capacity) at the time they need to be made.
Housing
The person you care for may need to move from their home to somewhere more suitable for them, or may require more support at home.
When your caring role comes to an end
If the person you care for no longer needs your support, take care of yourself and consider how to fill up the time that's become available.
