How to get equipment

There are 3 ways you can get equipment.

1. Visit Hertfordshire Action on Disability

Hertfordshire Action on Disability has an equipment shop in Welwyn Garden City.  They have equipment which you can take home the same day, including:

  • bathroom and toilet equipment

  • special chairs and cushions

  • walking sticks and frames

  • cooking and eating aids.

Their occupational therapist can help you choose the most suitable equipment.

2. Find equipment online

You can work out what equipment would make your life easier by using a website called "AskSara".

It will ask you a few questions and then suggest equipment that could help you.

AskSara also shows where you can buy the equipment.

3. Get an assessment from us

If your needs are a bit more complex, we can have a chat and ask you some questions about your day-to-day life to work out what equipment would help.

Whether it's a smaller item like a grab rail, perching stool or chair raiser – or something bigger – we'll figure out the best thing for you. We call this an assessment.

Equipment recommended following an assessment can be issued on loan free of charge by Hertfordshire Equipment Service.

If you're still unsure what equipment you need, call HertsHelp – a free advice service.
