Greenspace Action Plans
Broad Acre Wood
St Albans City and District Council, in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council, are seeking comments on a new Greenspace Action Plan (GAP) for Broad Acre Wood. This will be the first GAP for Broad Acre Wood and will outline a plan for management of the site over the next five years.
The new plan aims to conserve and enhance the natural environment of Broad Acre Wood, recognising its importance to the community and potential to support a variety of wildlife. The top priority is to undertake vegetation management to maintain the valuable woodland and scrub habitats which make Broad Acre Wood such a special place. This will include managing invasive non-native species and increasing light levels where beneficial to diversify age and species structure, benefit ground flora and support the future maturity of the woodland.
The plan contains further proposals to make Broad Acre Wood a welcoming, safe site for visitors by designing and installing a new attractive entrance sign and interpretation panel. Removal of redundant or broken fencing structures will also take place.
Take a look at the draft Broad Acre Wood Greenspace Action Plan (PDF 3.78MB), which explains plans for Broad Acre Wood in much more detail. We would welcome your comments by Friday 11 June.
