Where can I recycle?

Visit our household waste recycling centres page for opening hours, directions and what items we can accept:

Household waste recycling centres (local tips)

Find out about your local council's bin collection service and discover other ways to recycle or donate.

Find your nearest recycling point

Find recycling facilities in your area or find out what you can put in your recycling bin at home:

Bin collections and neighbourhood recycling banks

Your local district or borough council is responsible for collecting rubbish and recycling from your home and for maintaining recycling banks in your local neighbourhood. Please contact your local council if you want to:

  • find out about your local bin collection
  • arrange collection of a large item
  • report a problem with a local recycling bin.

Reuse centres

All of our household waste recycling centres have a reuse centre, except for Buntingford.

At reuse centres you can donate household items or furniture that you no longer want, so they can be re-sold instead of being broken down.

Items we can't accept at our reuse centres

Please make sure your items are:

  • clean and mark-free
  • rip-free
  • complete, with no missing parts.

Using a private contractor

If you use a disposal contractor or skip hire company, it's your responsibility to check they are a registered waste carrier:

Check the waste carrier register

  • Ask to see their waste carrier's licence or registration number.
  • Ask for a transfer receipt before they remove your waste.
  • Make a note of the registration plate of their vehicle.
