Homes for Ukraine: Hosting someone already living in Hertfordshire (re-matching)

There are families and individuals already living in Hertfordshire who need host accommodation because their existing arrangements are coming to an end. This is known as re-matching.

Benefits of rematch hosting

  • Guests already living in Hertfordshire and wanting to ‘re-match’ usually need less support than someone newly arrived in the UK.
  • Many guests have already found work in Hertfordshire and are settling into the area, making them more independent than newly arrived guests.
  • For some hosts, you can enable Ukrainian children to continue their education, potentially in the same educational setting.
  • You have the opportunity to meet any potential guests, before making any decision. There is the option to decline hosting a guest if you do not think they are the right fit for you and your family.
  • A monthly ‘thank you’ payment of at least £400, changing to at least £550 once the guests have been in the UK for 12 months.  Full details of the new, increased ‘thank you’ payments that hosts are eligible to receive in Hertfordshire.
  • Ensures guests can continue to access local community support networks and groups that they have become a part of.
  • Access to a wide range of support for guests and hosts.
  • Ongoing support for guest families from our dedicated Children’s Services Homes for Ukraine Team.
  • The chance to make new friendships for you and your family.
  • A direct email address and phone number for the Homes for Ukraine team, along with regular updates and newsletters for hosts and guests h4ukraine@hertfordshire.gov.uk  01992 555153

How to become a re-match host

You must register your interest to become a re-match host and email h4ukraine@hertfordshire.gov.uk to advise that you are interested in hosting. The Hertfordshire Homes for Ukraine team will then contact you to discuss your circumstances and any specific requirements you have.

Before you become a host, we will carry out eligibility, safeguarding, DBS and accommodation checks. If you are planning to host families with children or vulnerable adults, we may start the DBS process straight away, even if you have not committed to hosting any guests yet.  The accommodation check will be carried out by your local district or borough council (to check safety and suitability of your home).

We will then contact you regarding any potential re-matches that are suitable

If you are interested in finding out more, on a no-obligation basis, please email h4ukraine@hertfordshire.gov.uk quoting re-match or call 01992 555153 and ask to speak to the re-match team.
