Homes for Ukraine: Hosting someone already living in Hertfordshire

There are families and individuals already living in Hertfordshire who need accommodation because their existing arrangements are coming to an end. This is known as re-matching.

Benefits

Become a host

Benefits of rematching

  • Guests already living in Hertfordshire usually need less support than someone newly arrived in the UK.
  • Many guests have already found work in Hertfordshire and are settling into the area, making them more independent.
  • Guests can continue to be part of the local community and groups they've already become a part of.
  • Where possible, children can continue their education in the same school or nursery.

What you get as a host

You also get the opportunity to meet potential guests, before making any decision. You can decline hosting a guest if you don't think they are the right fit for you and your family.

Become a re-match host

1. Register your interest to become a re-match host.

2. Email h4ukraine@hertfordshire.gov.uk to advise that you're interested in hosting. We'll contact you to discuss your circumstances and any specific requirements.

3. We'll carry out eligibility, safeguarding, DBS and accommodation checks. If you're planning to host families with children or vulnerable adults, we may start the DBS process straight away, even if you haven't committed to hosting yet.

4. Your district or borough council will be in touch to arrange an accommodation check (to check safety and suitability of your home).

5. We'll then contact you regarding any potential re-matches.

For a chat (no-obligation), email h4ukraine@hertfordshire.gov.uk or call 01992 555153 and ask to speak to the re-match team.
