What will I be doing?

YC Hertfordshire works with young people aged 13-19 (up to 25 for those that have learning disabilities) to help them make a successful transition to adulthood. We are looking for adult volunteers to be part of a youth work team; to plan and deliver a range of engaging and educational activities.

Some projects focus on particular localities, while others target specific groups, such as;

  • Young parents or carers
  • Young travellers
  • Young women
  • People from black, minority and ethnic communities
  • People with learning difficulties or disabilities
  • LGBT+.

What skills or experience do I need?

We are looking for people with energy, enthusiasm and diverse experience to further enhance our local teams. Sports, arts, music, media or outdoor skills especially welcome.

How much time do I need to give?

Activities take place predominately in the evening, including Friday and Saturdays.

You will need to be able to commit a minimum of one evening a week.

Where will I be located?

Our youth work teams deliver in a variety of in and outdoor settings across Hertfordshire, including youth centres, parks, community buildings, schools and on the streets; wherever young people gather.

  • You will also be working with young people to plan and design programmes that develop the skills which are important to them.

What support will I be given?

You will be given initial and ongoing training and support. You will also be working alongside qualified staff in our projects.
