Why is it important to have an NHS Health Check?

Residents from ethnic minority groups and areas of deprivation are more likely to get cardiovascular disease.

Evidence shows some residents, such as men, are less likely to attend their GP or the hospital for medical advice. An NHS Health Check can give an early screening for signs of heart disease in a non-clinical setting.

Silent symptoms such as high Cholesterol and high blood pressure usually don’t have symptoms. An NHS Health Check will check whether you are at risk from either heart disease related symptoms.

You are supporting your current and future health. One 20 minute check could make a big difference.

What do I do if I’m housebound?

You are able to have an NHS Health Check, as long as you meet the eligibility criteria.

The NHS Health Check requires taking the measurements for height, weight and waist. If you are unable to have those measurements taken you would not be able to receive the full NHS Health Check, but should speak to your GP about your health concerns.

Please speak to your GP Practice about accessing an NHS Health Check.

What is a QRisk3?

An online calculator that your NHS Health Check appointment results are put in to show your heart age, and your chances of having a heart attack or stroke in the next ten years.
