Indexes

From 1912, the mother’s maiden name is given in the birth index. For marriages, the spouse’s surname is given after 1912.

The death index gives the age at death from 1866.  From June 1969 the date of birth of the deceased is also on the record.

Parish registers

We can provide copies of entries from the county's parish registers. These show religious events such as baptisms, marriages and burials.

Marriages up to 1837 have been indexed on Hertfordshire Names Online.

If you're struggling to find results, you can ask us to search for you.

Certificates

We don't provide copies of civil certificates. Using the references from indexes, you can order from Hertfordshire Registration Service.
