Nonconformist Records

"Nonconformist" was a term used in England and Wales after the Act of Uniformity 1662 to refer to a Protestant Christian who did not 'conform' to the Church of England.

The survival of nonconformist records is patchy up to 1837.  That year, nonconformists were asked to deposit their records with the Registrar General.  Those that were handed over are now held by The National Archives. 

We hold a microfilm copy of the Hertfordshire registers. We don't hold records from Catholic churches.
