The scary facts about pumpkins

42% of people in the UK buy pumpkins each year, but they don't always end up in a happy home...

After carving out the edible part of the pumpkin:

33%  cook it

19%  add it to the compost heap

20%  put it in food waste collection

25%  throw it in their general waste bin.

That's a whopping 18,000 tonnes of pumpkin thrown away each year.

The same as 360 million portions of pumpkin pie.
